First Annual Community Gathering Picnic

Saturday July 8th at the Portland Avenue Play Field, Full Circle sponsored another summer fun day, this time a voter's appreciation Salmon dinner. It was an opportunity for Tribal Council member David Bean to address the members and their families personally show his appreciation and thank them for their (continued) support. Upon arrival, Full Circle Tee shirts were distributed to everyone, from the tallest to the shortest and to the widest to the thinnest.

The sun shone down brightly on the hundreds in attendance, providing a perfect picnic atmosphere The event was opened with a prayer offered up by Tribal Elder Loraine Joseph, and prayer songs from Bradley Guerrero and Robert S. Satiacum.

After another long hot firecracker season , the gathering provided an opportunity for everyone to relax and catch up on the latest news and firecracker sales. The air was scented with the aroma of salmon, burgers, and watermelon, many Aho's to Si and Karen Fryberg for bringing the Sacred Finned One's!

The park's lawn was once again filled with volleyball nets and inflatable toys, this time an obstacle course was added. David Bean, brimming with confidence, put out a challenge to all, to try and beat him. The outcome, three victories one loss, one scraped knee and lost eye contacts.

In attendance was the Pastor from the Indian Fellowship Church once again blessing the meal and informing the assembly that there will be a 130 th Anniversary Celebration July 16-23. The crowd also included the publisher and editor from the Puyallup Tribal newspaper, John Weymer.

As the picnicker's picnicked, the microphone was opened up to any and all that felt like sharing. Tribal member's Eric Bennett , Will Satiacum, Anna Bean, James Miles and Chester Earl took advantage and thanked the member's of Full Circle for sponsoring the event and encouraged everyone to remain positive and supportive of David Bean. A few Elder's stepped up to the mike to acknowledge the efforts and share their gladness to see the People once again come together and have a great time, sharing stories, songs and hugs.

In all, it was another huge success and fun time for everyone, the next one is already in the works for the end of summer. Hope to see you and your family there next time!
