Sweat Lodge Every Wednesday at 6pm
Invitation to come to the Wed. night sweat at 6pm each and every week. The tribal sweat lodge has supporte d 30 or more people at one time. If you'd like to help out contact Raymond McCloud at the PTHA or meet at the sweat lodge around 3pm when we light up the fire. Natives of all walks of life find their way to the inipi, to take care of themselves and support others in prayer. Recently, the lodge has been blessed with the company of some youngsters ages 9-13yrs. They have conducted themselves in a good way, with encouraging words for all to listen too. When construction begins on the new casino, our inipi will need to be relocated to a safe location, anyone with a suggestion, please let us know. Also, the lodge is always looking for firewood, anyone knowing of someone willing to donate wood or get at great price, contact Raymond at the PTHA, or myself (Rob 253-224-4888). The mens' lodge is located next to the Elder's Housing and the womens' is next to Kawachee Center.

June 5th-7th 3rd Annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) Superfly Filmmaking Experience

Expanding Cinema through Education empowers youth to work collaboratively, communicate their ideas, exercise their potential, and take action in their communities. This goal is embodied in the SuperFly Program where young filmmakers are asked to comment on their world using multimedia and digital tools.
Starting on June 5, youth from around the country will converge on Seattle to participate in SuperFly, SIFF's 36-hour filmmaking workshop.

In SIFF's continued partnership with Longhouse Media, 50 young filmmakers will be placed in five teams and given a script co-written written by SuperFly alumni and Tulalip Tribal Members Aaron and Derek Jones. The script will be an original work from an excerpt of Sherman Alexies's award-winning book, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian." The teams will have less than two days to storyboard, shoot, and edit their films, which will then premiere four hours later at the FutureWave Shorts program screening.
Last year's SuperFly films (based on a script by filmmaker Sterlin Harjo), have played at festivals around the country, winning awards and inspiring other communities to use digital media for education. The program has caught the attention of youth media organizations and national media centers including the Smithsonian Museum's media center and Native American Public Telecommunications, providers of Native content to PBS television.

SuperFly premieres and kicks off SIFF 2008 FutureWave Shorts June 7 at 4:00pm at the Egyptian Theatre.

This is the 1st Longhouse owned by the Duwamish Tribal Community within the City named for our Chief Seattle in more than 150 years. (Arsonists burned down the last Duwamish Longhouse in 1894). At our 2008 Gala, there will be a Silent Auction, a live performance featuring the Duwamish Nation’s cultural heritage group TilibSedeb (“Singing Feetâ€), a Salmon Feast, and a Live Auction conducted by Kip Toner.
